About Positive Quotes
I’m so thankful to have the mother that I have. Over five years ago, my mom, Lucy, started mailing out positive quotes by email to a few friends, acquaintances, and clients of her counselling private practice. It turned into a simple blog and eventually, as the list started to grow and grow, it became too much to maintain alone. Amy, my sister, and I stepped in to help and took over posting the quotes. My mom came up with the idea to post a photo with each quote and that’s when the viewership of the quotes shot up, who’d a thought! As the demand for positive quotes kept growing we needed a new site that could handle so many responses from people and their need to share their positive and inspiring stories with us and the community. I created a new website www.positiveattitudequotes.com as a launching pad for this community to take place. It’s been such an amazing journey and I’ve never ceased to be amazed at how such a simple act, of posting a positive quote with a photo, could effect so many people around the world.
We just love positive quotes. My mom would always be writing them down when I was younger and then I started doing the same, in a journal, on cue cards, stuck to the bathroom mirror, wherever I could see them. My mom wrote a quote on a cue card for me and stuck it in my bathroom and seeing it there and reading it everyday helped change the course of actions I was taking and truly helped change my path. The quote said:
“You are free to choose, but the choices you make today will determine what you will have, be, and do in the tomorrow of your life.” Zig Ziglar
Positive quotes are little golden nuggets of wisdom – that make me think, challenge my mindset, and many times, help to change my perspective. A positive quote could make the difference between having a good day or a bad day. I’m so happy my mom started this project. She’s been the most inspiring person in my life. Thanks mom.

Wow, this is all so neat. I just stated my pleasure with the site at “About Positive Quotes”, then subscribed, and now have scanned through another comment section to find Laura’s solicitation for inputs on the email “format”. Well, I haven’t gotten my first one, yet, but my first impression is the entire quote might be nice to see in the email, but with the site link still clearly there. I’m pretty busy most of the time (only have internet at work…OH MY!), and only have time to catch the email content. But let me get a few before you take my “best and final” input. I will certainly be visiting the site when I can, and you are right, Laura, the community thus formed is special in it’s own right. That’s why I mentioned/asked about linking to your site on facebook, as opposed to simply posting the quotes there…get more people to the source, your wonderful site. These quotes are wonderful and inspiring – they help when I need little notes to put on the bulletin board or near the cash register for the employees (and me, too) to always think positively about the day. I am so glad the site is continuing! I even draw on the sidewalk outside of our store – people do find it interesting…

Thank you for finding a way to continue Positive Attitude Quotes. I got used to the display format when the ‘old’ website was active…where the actual quote displayed with the picture of the day. Under this new format, there is just a general reference to the quote topic. Was this intentional to get people to always click on the text to take the viewer to the website to see the actual quote? I preferred the full quote displaying along with the picture. Just my opinion. Thanks again and make everyday a great day!

Thanks for taking the time to give us some great feedback. Yes, it was intentional on our part to not put the full post in the emails. This is because we do want people to click on the site. We’re trying to create a real community of people around this site and by people clicking on the site we’re engaging more people to follow the comments and join in to the discussions that we feel are very powerful. If people only get the quote in the email then we wouldn’t get as much participation as people would have less of a reason to click on the site. I want to mention another option. We also have an RSS feed. If you follow our RSS feed, then you will get the quote daily in your feed reader (without a picture, but you would still get the quote.) Is that something that might work better for you? If so just unsubscribe to the emails and subscribe to the RSS feed. Hope this helps!
I’d love to hear some other feedback from anyone who’s willing. What do you think of the emails? Is this something you enjoy receiving? Would you rather the full quote in the email? Would you still click on the site if you did receive the positive quote in the email?
