About Positive Attitude Quotes
I love positive quotes! Positive quotes are little golden nuggets of wisdom – that make me think, challenge my mindset, and many times, help to change my perspective.

For years, whenever I came across a positive quote I would write it down in my journal, stick it on the bathroom mirror, and even the dashboard of the car. In 2005 I decided to create a blog and share some of my favourite quotes, every day, Monday to Friday. As a professional counsellor, and a person who learned to become optimistic, I realized that a positive quote could make the difference between having a good day or a bad day.

The response from people around the world was truly overwhelming. In 2007, I started adding a photograph to help illustrate the quote and the combination of the positive quote and photograph has been a huge hit.

From the beginning, I paid for the blog and donated my labour – which was really a labour of love. Over time, as other commitments (professional and personal) started to grow, I conscripted the help of two of my four children, Amy and Laura. Many, many times they filled in for me, posting the positive quotes, Monday to Friday in my absence. As the positive attitude quotes has grown, their support has become an indispensible asset. I am happy to have such a great project to work on with two great daughters! Thanks girls!

In 1998, I returned to university to complete my B.A. in Psychology and my Masters in Education – Counselling Psychology. I have always been fascinated with resilience and optimism. I offer counselling services via telephone and specialize in stress management, anger management and burnout prevention and recovery. I am inspired by people who come through adversity, wiser, kinder, and resilient.

About Laura MacDonald

After developing an interest in the money markets, I  started investing in the stock market at the age of 18. I  went on to graduate with a finance degree, with honors, from the John Molson School of Business in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  I love to travel and have visited  countries all over the world including China, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Australia, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and Cuba.

I have worked on Positive Attitude quotes over the past couple of years, filling for my mom when she was not able to do the quotes. Because of the popularity of our positive attitude quotes blog on Typepad, we decided to set up our own, stand-along blog. I took over the task of learning all about blogging and managing the Positive Attitude Quotes site has sparked my interest in blogging. As a result, I have started at  “Blogging for Business” consulting practice for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

I love Bikram yoga, and have practised different types of yoga for ten years. I also love surfing and photography – I took the photo at the top of this blog.

    Thank you for finding a way to continue Positive Attitude Quotes. I got used to the display format when the ‘old’ website was active…where the actual quote displayed with the picture of the day. Under this new format, there is just a general reference to the quote topic. Was this intentional to get people to always click on the text to take the viewer to the website to see the actual quote? I preferred the full quote displaying along with the picture. Just my opinion. Thanks again and make everyday a great day!

    Thanks for taking the time to give us some great feedback. Yes, it was intentional on our part to not put the full post in the emails. This is because we do want people to click on the site. We’re trying to create a real community of people around this site and by people clicking on the site we’re engaging more people to follow the comments and join in to the discussions that we feel are very powerful. If people only get the quote in the email then we wouldn’t get as much participation as people would have less of a reason to click on the site. I want to mention another option. We also have an RSS feed. If you follow our RSS feed, then you will get the quote daily in your feed reader (without a picture, but you would still get the quote.) Is that something that might work better for you? If so just unsubscribe to the emails and subscribe to the RSS feed. Hope this helps!

    I’d love to hear some other feedback from anyone who’s willing. What do you think of the emails? Is this something you enjoy receiving? Would you rather the full quote in the email? Would you still click on the site if you did receive the positive quote in the email?

    These quotes are wonderful and inspiring – they help when I need little notes to put on the bulletin board or near the cash register for the employees (and me, too) to always think positively about the day. I am so glad the site is continuing! I even draw on the sidewalk outside of our store – people do find it interesting…

    Wow, this is all so neat. I just stated my pleasure with the site at “About Positive Quotes”, then subscribed, and now have scanned through another comment section to find Laura’s solicitation for inputs on the email “format”. Well, I haven’t gotten my first one, yet, but my first impression is the entire quote might be nice to see in the email, but with the site link still clearly there. I’m pretty busy most of the time (only have internet at work…OH MY!), and only have time to catch the email content. But let me get a few before you take my “best and final” input. I will certainly be visiting the site when I can, and you are right, Laura, the community thus formed is special in it’s own right. That’s why I mentioned/asked about linking to your site on facebook, as opposed to simply posting the quotes there…get more people to the source, your wonderful site.
